Hammond 1750B – 10 W reverb driver transformer for Fender Vibro-King 024038
The Hammond 1750B is a single-ended output transformer for the dedicated reverb driver in the Fender Vibro-King. Hammond assigns it to Fender reference 024038 and a nominal 8 Ω spring-tank input.
The Vibro-King uses a separate 6V6 to provide power drive for the reverb tank. The 1750B must therefore not be confused with the main output transformer of the 60 W loudspeaker amplifier.
Suitable applications
- Repair of the reverb driver in a Fender Vibro-King
- Replacement for the documented 024038 reference
- Single-ended 6V6 drivers feeding a nominal 8 Ω spring-reverb input
- New power-driven valve reverb circuits requiring approximately 5.5 kΩ
- Guitar amplifiers using a separate power-valve reverb driver
- Service and restoration projects with verified mechanical compatibility

Difference from the main output transformer
The Vibro-King is a 60 W amplifier using two 5881 or 6L6 output valves for the loudspeaker stage and an additional 6V6 for the reverb driver. The Hammond 1750B belongs only to the 6V6 reverb circuit.
The Vibro-King main output transformer carries Fender reference 036485 and is listed by Hammond as the 1750KA. The 1750B must not replace the loudspeaker output transformer.
Selection and safety notes
Verify the tank-input impedance, 6V6 operating point, primary voltage and mounting dimensions before installation. Hammond does not publish a separate maximum DC-current figure for the 1750B, so no value should be copied from another reverb transformer.
The primary carries lethal plate voltage. Install the open transformer with complete touch protection and correct insulation.
Questions about selection and use
Which reverb driver transformer suits a Fender Vibro-King using reference 024038?
Hammond 1750B is documented for the Fender Vibro-King reverb driver and reference 024038, providing a 5.482 kΩ primary, 8 Ω secondary and 10 W rating.
Which Hammond transformer suits a 6V6 SE reverb driver requiring approximately 5.5 kΩ to 8 Ω?
Hammond 1750B is a suitable starting point for a correctly designed 6V6 reverb driver using approximately 5.5 kΩ and a nominal 8 Ω spring-tank input.
Can the Hammond 1750B drive an 8 Ω spring-reverb input?
Yes, the Hammond 1750B has an 8 Ω secondary and can drive a compatible spring-reverb input when the 6V6 operating point and tank type suit the primary transformation.
Is the Hammond 1750B suitable for repairing the Vibro-King reverb driver?
Yes, the Hammond 1750B is suitable for this documented repair application when the reference number, lead colours, mounting dimensions and remaining reverb-driver circuit correspond to the original.
