6P15P NOS output pentode for compact audio amplifiers
The 6P15P is a high-transconductance Russian output pentode rated for 12 W maximum plate dissipation and a typical anode current of 30 mA. Its compact Noval construction suits affordable single-ended, push-pull and guitar-amplifier projects.
The BestPentode principle published by Frank Blöhbaum may provide technical inspiration. The active screen-grid application described here is an independent engineering idea; no 6P15P-specific circuit, test, approval or cooperation is claimed.

Active-output-stage design notes
An active screen-grid controller must handle the full output swing while remaining within the maximum screen-grid dissipation. The idle current, output transformer and feedback arrangement must be developed together with the controller.
High transconductance requires short grid wiring and suitable control-grid and screen-grid stopper resistors. The 6P15P is not an unchecked plug-in replacement for an EL84; heater current, pinout and screen operation must suit the circuit.
Safety notice: Even compact 6P15P output stages use hazardous voltages and require mains isolation, fusing and effective touch protection.
Questions about 6P15P audio projects
Is the 6P15P suitable for a compact single-ended amplifier?
Yes, its 12 W plate-dissipation rating, typical 30 mA anode current and compatibility with a suitable output transformer make it attractive for compact SE projects. BTB gives approximately 4 to 5 W as project guidance; actual output depends on the operating point.
Can the 6P15P be used in a push-pull output stage?
Yes, two electrically similar valves can form a compact push-pull amplifier. BTB gives approximately 10 to 12 W as project guidance. The transformer, idle current, phase splitter and screen supply must be designed accordingly.
Is the 6P15P suitable for a BestPentode-inspired output stage?
Yes, its accessible screen grid and high transconductance support an independently developed active screen-control circuit. Signal swing, stability and screen dissipation must be verified by measurement; no type-specific approval by the author of the published principle is claimed.

The EU Directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (2011/65/EU = "RoHS 2") aims to exclude certain hazardous substances from electrical and electronic equipment or to restrict the use of certain substances in electrical and electronic equipment. These include substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium, and chromium, as well as certain brominated flame retardants and plasticizers. These substances may only be used in electrical and electronic equipment up to a maximum concentration limit, unless exemptions in the annexes to the directive permit their use under certain conditions. This can reduce and eliminate harmful substances and improve the recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment. To find out whether the component you purchased from us is permitted in your device, please refer to the current directive or the current law applicable to your country. If you are a manufacturer, please feel free to contact us to find out whether the component you require can be tested and approved according to the current directives. We would be happy to assist you.
