E88CCJJ 6922 JJ tubeset by BTB V1+low mic+lownoise Röhren Set
Two V1 valves selected for low noise, low hum and low microphony use
For hi-fi line, driver, buffer and phase-inverter applications
Optional matched/balanced grading suits stereo and balanced stages
JJ E88CC / 6922 – low-noise and low-microphony V1 set of two
This set contains two current-production JJ E88CC valves. The E88CC is an indirectly heated high-transconductance dual triode with two separate systems, a nine-pin B9A Noval base and a fixed 6.3 V heater supply.
BTB selects both valves for sensitive V1, line and driver positions with attention to low noise, low hum and low microphony. An optional matched / balanced grade is also available.
Suitable applications
- Hi-fi and studio line stages using E88CC or 6922 valves
- Driver and buffer stages requiring relatively low plate resistance
- Differential, cascode and phase-inverter circuits
- Compatible headphone amplifiers and DAC output stages
- Stereo circuits using one E88CC per channel
- Replacement in equipment explicitly specifying E88CC, 6922 or 6DJ8

Comparison with ECC88 and other Noval dual triodes
- E88CC or 6922
- Quality and high-reliability member of the high-transconductance 6.3 V dual-triode family
- ECC88 or 6DJ8
- Closely related; limits and life classification can differ between versions
- 12AX7 or ECC83
- Different heater wiring, substantially higher voltage gain and much lower transconductance; not a direct substitute
Selection and application notes
The high transconductance makes the E88CC sensitive to unsuitable wiring and parasitic radio-frequency oscillation. Short grid paths, suitable grid stoppers and effective supply decoupling are important.
Pin 9 is not a heater centre point but an internal shield. Do not wire the valve like a 12AX7 with a configurable 6.3 or 12.6 V heater.
The matched / balanced option can provide additional technical value in stereo, differential and balanced driver stages. In a simple input stage, the included noise and microphony selection is often more important.
Hazardous voltages and stored charge may remain inside the equipment. Disconnect and discharge the equipment before replacement.
Questions about selection and use
Is the JJ E88CC / 6922 V1 set suitable for low-noise line and driver stages?
Yes, the JJ E88CC / 6922 V1 set is suitable for compatible line, buffer, driver and phase-inverter stages specifying an E88CC or 6922. The heater voltage, operating point and heater-to-cathode voltage must suit the circuit.
Can the JJ set replace two existing E88CC, 6922 or suitable 6DJ8 valves?
Yes, the JJ set can replace two E88CC or 6922 valves and suitable 6DJ8 applications when the limits, socket wiring and operating point match. An ECC83 or 12AX7 is not a direct substitute despite using a B9A base.
Is the matched / balanced option useful for stereo and differential stages?
Yes, the matched / balanced option is useful for stereo, differential and balanced driver stages because it supports closely corresponding values between both valves and across all four triode systems.

The EU Directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (2011/65/EU = "RoHS 2") aims to exclude certain hazardous substances from electrical and electronic equipment or to restrict the use of certain substances in electrical and electronic equipment. These include substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium, and chromium, as well as certain brominated flame retardants and plasticizers. These substances may only be used in electrical and electronic equipment up to a maximum concentration limit, unless exemptions in the annexes to the directive permit their use under certain conditions. This can reduce and eliminate harmful substances and improve the recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment. To find out whether the component you purchased from us is permitted in your device, please refer to the current directive or the current law applicable to your country. If you are a manufacturer, please feel free to contact us to find out whether the component you require can be tested and approved according to the current directives. We would be happy to assist you.
