For vintage radios, tube amplifiers, restoration and DIY audio builds
Also known as Europe 5-Pin, Europa B5, Philips O, Eu O or O5A socket
30 mm cut-out, 38 mm M3 centres, for RE134, REN904, RE604 and RGN4004
Europa B5 PTFE chassis socket with machined gold-plated contacts
This premium 5-pin Europa B5 chassis socket is designed for historic valve equipment and demanding point-to-point restoration projects. The white PTFE insulator provides a heat-resistant and highly insulating base. Machined gold-plated copper socket contacts provide precise engagement with the substantial pins used on classic European valves. A separate black fixing ring permits installation from above or below the chassis. The socket is suitable for repair and restoration of early radio receivers, vintage amplifiers and power supplies, as well as high-quality DIY audio projects using directly heated triodes such as PX4, PX5, RE604 or RE614.

Applications, tube examples and common designations
The socket is intended for classic European valves using the historic B5 arrangement. Typical mechanically compatible valves include:
- Directly heated triodes: RE604, RE614, PX4 and PX5
- Rectifier valves: RGN1064, RGN2004, RGN4004, U18, U19 and 1064
- Typical applications: historic radio receivers, early audio amplifiers, classic power supplies and restoration projects
Common search and comparison designations: Europa B5, Europe 5-Pin, 5-Pin Europe, Philips O, Eu O, O5A and Europa 5-Pin tube socket.
Depending on the valve type, three, four or five contacts may be used. A shared mechanical base does not establish electrical interchangeability. Pin assignment, heater data and operating conditions must match the selected valve and circuit.
Practical questions about restoration and installation
What chassis cut-out and mounting centres does the Europa B5 socket require?
Installation requires a 30 mm diameter chassis cut-out. The two M3 mounting holes are spaced 38 mm centre-to-centre. The separate fixing ring permits mounting from above or below the chassis.
Which historic valves are mechanically compatible with this 5-pin socket?
Typical mechanically compatible European valves include RE604, RE614, PX4, PX5 and rectifier valves such as RGN1064, RGN2004, RGN4004, U18, U19 and 1064. The exact pin arrangement must be checked against the valve data sheet before installation.
Is the PTFE socket suitable for historic radios and premium valve amplifiers?
Yes. The socket is suitable for restoration of early radio receivers and power supplies, as well as high-quality point-to-point valve amplifiers using mechanically compatible European valves such as PX4, PX5, RE604 or RE614.
Can European valves with three or four pins also be used?
The socket has five contacts in the classic European arrangement. With many B3 or B4 valves, some contacts remain unused. The actual pin arrangement, pin assignment and mechanical fit of the specific valve must always be verified.

The EU Directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (2011/65/EU = "RoHS 2") aims to exclude certain hazardous substances from electrical and electronic equipment or to restrict the use of certain substances in electrical and electronic equipment. These include substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium, and chromium, as well as certain brominated flame retardants and plasticizers. These substances may only be used in electrical and electronic equipment up to a maximum concentration limit, unless exemptions in the annexes to the directive permit their use under certain conditions. This can reduce and eliminate harmful substances and improve the recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment. To find out whether the component you purchased from us is permitted in your device, please refer to the current directive or the current law applicable to your country. If you are a manufacturer, please feel free to contact us to find out whether the component you require can be tested and approved according to the current directives.
