For PCB mounting, replacement and repair on circuit boards
Socket Miniature B7G Pico7, 7-pin, PCB, 16-17.5 mm
Miniature B7G PCB socket with a white ceramic body
This compact Miniature B7G valve socket is designed for direct through-hole mounting on printed circuit boards. It is suitable for valve radios, small amplifiers, preamplifiers, studio electronics, test equipment and space-saving DIY circuits. The white ceramic body provides a dimensionally stable and temperature-resistant insulating base. Silver-plated fork-spring contacts retain the seven valve pins reliably, while the PCB solder pins allow direct integration into the board layout. The socket is suitable for new designs as well as repair and restoration work. Because the contacts are arranged asymmetrically, the locating gap, pinout and component orientation must be checked carefully against the PCB layout before soldering.

Typical mechanically compatible valves
Detector and signal valves: EAA91 / 6AL5 and DF91 / 1T4
Triodes: EC90 / 6C4, EC92 / 6AB4 and EC903
Power valves: EL95 / 6DL5 and 50C5

A common Miniature B7G base does not guarantee electrical interchangeability. Pinout, heater data and operating values must match the relevant circuit.
Alternative designations
Internationally used designations for this format include Miniature B7G, Pico-7, 7-Pin Miniature, Miniature 7-Pin, B7G PCB Socket and 7-Pin PCB Tube Socket.
PCB mounting and application questions
Which dimensions are important for the PCB layout?
The seven valve contacts are positioned on a Ø 9.50 mm pitch circle. The ceramic body has an outside diameter of Ø 18.60 mm, and the PCB solder pins project 6.0 mm from the body. The locating gap must agree with the pinout and component orientation.
Which valves fit mechanically?
B7G / Pico-7 valves such as EAA91 / 6AL5, DF91 / 1T4, EC90 / 6C4, EC92 / 6AB4, EC903, EL95 / 6DL5, 50C5, 6Z4 and 6X4 / EZ90 fit mechanically. A common base does not guarantee electrical interchangeability; pinout, heater data and operating values must match the circuit.
What contact construction is used?
The socket uses silver-plated fork-spring contacts. The resilient contact surfaces engage the valve pins from two sides and provide a compact contact construction inside the ceramic body.
What must be considered when soldering the socket?
The locating gap must be aligned correctly before soldering. For a low-stress installation, insert a suitable reference valve and complete the final soldering with the valve in place. Prevent solder and flux from entering the contact springs.

The EU Directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (2011/65/EU = "RoHS 2") aims to exclude certain hazardous substances from electrical and electronic equipment or to restrict the use of certain substances in electrical and electronic equipment. These include substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium, and chromium, as well as certain brominated flame retardants and plasticizers. These substances may only be used in electrical and electronic equipment up to a maximum concentration limit, unless exemptions in the annexes to the directive permit their use under certain conditions. This can reduce and eliminate harmful substances and improve the recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment. To find out whether the component you purchased from us is permitted in your device, please refer to the current directive or the current law applicable to your country. If you are a manufacturer, please feel free to contact us to find out whether the component you require can be tested and approved according to the current directives. We would be happy to assist you.
