Noval B9A PTFE chassis socket with machined gold-plated contacts

This premium 9-pin Noval B9A chassis socket is designed for demanding point-to-point wired tube projects. The white PTFE insulator provides a heat-resistant and highly insulating base, while the machined gold-plated copper contacts provide precise mechanical engagement with the tube pins. Its separate black fixing ring permits installation from above or below the chassis. The socket is suitable for new builds, repairs and restoration of Hi-Fi tube amplifiers, guitar and bass amplifiers, studio tube equipment, preamplifiers, test equipment and high-quality DIY audio circuits. The mechanical format follows the internationally established Noval B9A system and is also known as the EIZZ EZ-1209.

Applications, tube examples and common designations

The socket is mechanically intended for tubes with a 9-pin Noval B9A base. Typical examples include:

  • Pre-amplifier and dual triodes: ECC83 / 12AX7 / 7025, ECC82 / 12AU7, ECC81 / 12AT7
  • Audio and RF triodes: ECC88 / 6DJ8 and E88CC / 6922
  • Power tubes: EL84 / 6BQ5
  • Rectifier tubes: EZ80 / 6V4 and EZ81 / 6CA4

Common search and comparison designations: EIZZ EZ-1209, Noval, B9A, Pico-9, 9-pin miniature, miniature 9-pin, E9-1, E9-68, PTFE tube socket, Teflon tube socket and 9-pin chassis-mount tube socket.

A shared base format does not establish electrical interchangeability. Pin assignment, heater data and permitted operating values must match the circuit and the selected tube.

Practical questions about installation and use

What chassis cut-out and mounting centres does the PTFE socket require?

Installation requires a 22 mm diameter chassis cut-out. The two M3 mounting holes are spaced 28 mm centre-to-centre. The detachable fixing ring permits mounting from above or below the chassis.

Is the EIZZ EZ-1209 suitable for guitar and bass amplifiers?

Yes. The chassis socket is suitable for point-to-point wired pre-amplifier stages, phase inverters and output stages using mechanically compatible Noval B9A tubes such as ECC83, ECC81 or EL84. Available installation space and the electrical circuit must match the amplifier.

Is the Noval PTFE socket suitable for Hi-Fi and studio electronics?

Yes. The PTFE insulator and machined gold-plated contacts make the socket a high-quality mechanical solution for tube preamplifiers, phono and line stages, headphone amplifiers, studio equipment, test equipment and DIY audio projects.

Which tubes are mechanically compatible with the Noval B9A socket?

Mechanically compatible Noval B9A tubes include ECC83/12AX7/7025, ECC82/12AU7, ECC81/12AT7, ECC88/6DJ8, E88CC/6922, EL84/6BQ5 and the EZ80/6V4 and EZ81/6CA4 rectifier tubes.

The EU Directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (2011/65/EU = "RoHS 2") aims to exclude certain hazardous substances from electrical and electronic equipment or to restrict the use of certain substances in electrical and electronic equipment. These include substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium, and chromium, as well as certain brominated flame retardants and plasticizers. These substances may only be used in electrical and electronic equipment up to a maximum concentration limit, unless exemptions in the annexes to the directive permit their use under certain conditions. This can reduce and eliminate harmful substances and improve the recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment. To find out whether the component you purchased from us is permitted in your device, please refer to the current directive or the current law applicable to your country. If you are a manufacturer, please feel free to contact us to find out whether the component you require can be tested and approved according to the current directives. We would be happy to assist you.
