Octal K8A PTFE chassis socket with machined gold-plated contacts
This premium 8-pin Octal K8A chassis socket is designed for demanding point-to-point wired tube projects. The white PTFE insulator provides a heat-resistant and highly insulating base. Machined gold-plated collet contacts provide precise mechanical engagement with the tube pins and are suitable for power tubes, driver tubes and rectifiers. A separate black fixing ring permits mounting from above or below the chassis. The socket is suitable for new builds, repairs and restoration of Hi-Fi power amplifiers, guitar and bass amplifiers, studio tube equipment, power supplies, test equipment and high-quality DIY audio circuits.

Applications, tube examples and common designations
The socket is mechanically intended for tubes with an 8-pin Octal K8A base. Typical examples include:
- Power tubes: EL34 / 6CA7, 6L6GC, 6550, KT66, KT88, 6V6GT, KT120 and KT150
- Pre-amplifier and driver tubes: 6SN7GT and 6SL7GT
- Rectifier tubes: GZ34 / 5AR4, 5U4G and 5Y3GT
Common search and comparison designations: Octal, K8A, 8-pin Octal, EZ1208, International Octal, IO, Octal tube socket, PTFE tube socket and 8-pin chassis-mount tube socket.
A shared base format does not establish electrical interchangeability. Pin assignment, heater data, anode voltage, bias current and permitted plate dissipation must match the selected tube and circuit.
Practical questions about installation and use
What chassis cut-out and mounting centres does the Octal socket require?
Installation requires a 27 mm diameter chassis cut-out. The two M3 mounting holes are spaced 35 mm centre-to-centre. The detachable fixing ring permits mounting from above or below the chassis.
Is the PTFE Octal socket suitable for guitar and bass amplifiers?
Yes. The chassis socket is suitable for point-to-point wired output and driver stages using mechanically compatible Octal tubes such as EL34, 6L6GC, KT66, KT88, 6V6GT, 6SN7GT or 6SL7GT. Installation space, pin assignment, bias and circuit values must match the amplifier.
Is the Octal PTFE socket suitable for Hi-Fi and studio electronics?
Yes. The PTFE insulator and machined gold-plated collet contacts make the socket a high-quality mechanical solution for tube power amplifiers, driver stages, studio equipment, power supplies, test equipment and DIY audio projects.
Which tubes are mechanically compatible with the Octal K8A socket?
Mechanically compatible Octal K8A tubes include EL34/6CA7, 6L6GC, 6550, KT66, KT88, 6V6GT, KT120, KT150, 6SN7GT, 6SL7GT and the GZ34/5AR4, 5U4G and 5Y3GT rectifier tubes.

The EU Directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (2011/65/EU = "RoHS 2") aims to exclude certain hazardous substances from electrical and electronic equipment or to restrict the use of certain substances in electrical and electronic equipment. These include substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium, and chromium, as well as certain brominated flame retardants and plasticizers. These substances may only be used in electrical and electronic equipment up to a maximum concentration limit, unless exemptions in the annexes to the directive permit their use under certain conditions. This can reduce and eliminate harmful substances and improve the recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment. To find out whether the component you purchased from us is permitted in your device, please refer to the current directive or the current law applicable to your country. If you are a manufacturer, please feel free to contact us to find out whether the component you require can be tested and approved according to the current directives. We would be happy to assist you.
