E34LJJ Einzelröhre Red Label = EL34L tube
€19.85
Delivery time: ca. 1 - 5 days
Correctly named E34L like 1960s Valvo and Siemens, often typed EL34L
EL34 interchangeable, measurably higher gm on calibrated Roetest V10
More clarity and headroom, still warm and tight, built to last long
JJ E34L Red Label single tube – the EL34's sturdier sister
A word on spelling first: this tube is often called "EL34L" online, but its correct name is E34L – just like its NOS forebears from Valvo and Siemens in the 1960s. The JJ E34L is fundamentally interchangeable with the EL34 (same octal pinout, same heater), but built more ruggedly and designed for a higher grid bias range. In BTB's measurement practice on a calibrated Roetest V10, it also shows measurably higher transconductance than the EL34 – extra reserve that translates into longer service life.
As a single tube it suits targeted replacement in single-ended and cathode-biased circuits, EL34-versus-E34L comparison experiments – and per-piece supply for OEM customers and workshops selecting to their own criteria. Sonically it brings more clarity than the EL34 while staying warm and tight; in a guitar amp that means more headroom for clean and rock tones. Burn-in: around 50 to 100 hours.
Typical applications
- Single replacement in SE and cathode-biased EL34/E34L circuits
- Tone comparisons and experiments between EL34 and E34L
- OEM and workshop supply in quantity with in-house selection
- Upgrade projects seeking more reserve and clarity

Application and design notes
When swapping an EL34 for an E34L in cathode-biased and class-A circuits, the higher transconductance tends to raise the idle current – measure after the swap and readjust in fixed-bias amps. In push-pull stages, replacing by full sets remains best practice. Lethal voltages are present in operation; work inside the chassis only with proper qualification.
Questions about selection and use
Can I replace an EL34 directly with the E34L?
Yes, pinout and heater are identical, so the E34L is fundamentally interchangeable. Because of its higher transconductance, check the idle current after the swap and readjust it in fixed-bias amplifiers – then the sturdier E34L runs at its intended operating point.
Is the correct name E34L or EL34L?
Yes, the proper designation is E34L – exactly like the historic Valvo and Siemens originals from the 1960s. "EL34L" is a common misspelling of the very same tube; searching either term leads to the identical type.
Why is the E34L considered longer-lasting than the EL34?
Yes, the combination of rugged construction and the higher transconductance verified in BTB's measurement practice gives the E34L more reserve at the operating point – it runs further from its limits and therefore ages more slowly than an equally loaded EL34.

The EU Directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (2011/65/EU = "RoHS 2") aims to exclude certain hazardous substances from electrical and electronic equipment or to restrict the use of certain substances in electrical and electronic equipment. These include substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium, and chromium, as well as certain brominated flame retardants and plasticizers. These substances may only be used in electrical and electronic equipment up to a maximum concentration limit, unless exemptions in the annexes to the directive permit their use under certain conditions. This can reduce and eliminate harmful substances and improve the recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment. To find out whether the component you purchased from us is permitted in your device, please refer to the current directive or the current law applicable to your country. If you are a manufacturer, please feel free to contact us to find out whether the component you require can be tested and approved according to the current directives. We would be happy to assist you.
