How and where is the best way to mount the output transformer?

The output transformer is best mounted mechanically stable on the chassis / housing. The following points are important:

  • As far away from the mains transformer as possible, otherwise hum can be induced

  • If possible, mount it rotated by 90° relative to the mains transformer, due to the core / field direction

  • Keep the cable runs to the power stage and speaker terminals short

  • Ensure firm screw mounting with washers / locking devices to avoid vibrations

  • Do not place it directly next to the sensitive preamp stage or input wiring

  • With metal housings: ensure a good ground connection and, if necessary, shielding

Tip: Place the output transformer at one end and the mains transformer at the other end of the chassis.
