What is the difference between a tube base and a tube socket?
Strictly speaking, the tube base is the part attached to the foot of the tube with the contact pins, the male part, in order to be connected to the tube socket, the counterpart or female part. The tube socket is located in the device, while the tube base is on the tube. Colloquially, customers often order tube bases when they actually mean chassis-mounted sockets. PCB versions are mounted on a circuit board, while versions for chassis mounting are used in devices with wire connections or solder lugs.
